Afraid to Face the Music? Shelley Lubben Calls In Sick to Court, Offers No Doctor's Note

Bakersfield, Calif. -- Disgraced anti-porn crusader Shelley Lubben, who has apparently been in hiding since New Year's Eve, no-showed at her court date in Kern County Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon, after informing hr ex-husband's attorney that she had the flu but no doctor's note to prove it.

The ongoing case centers on Ms. Lubben's 2017 attempt to re-open her divorce case and get her hands on the Mexican timeshare property she ceded to him in their 2016 divorce.

In other words, Shelley Lubben no-showed at her own proceeding.

Today's hearing was scheduled months ago after a series of continuances in the case.

No one I spoke to in the Springville and Visalia areas (where Lubben resides) believes for a second that she is actually suffering from a cold or flu -- that is to say unless she caught one while prowling around and trespassing the property of her ex-housemates on New Years Eve.

That trespass resulted in a report being taken by Deputy E. Lemoine of the Tulare County Sheriffs on Dec. 31 -- the third report taken by the sheriffs while investigating claims that Mrs. Lubben has trespassed, robbed and vandalized the home and/or grounds, as well as harassed and threatened the residents.

The prevailing theory is that Lubben is afraid to show up in court, either because she will face a difficult cross examination, or because she fears being served with more legal papers.

Multiple witnesses confirm that Lubben -- an all-day drinker who soils herself when she doesn't get her alcohol in time -- is seriously on the skids. A few days ago she arrived extremely intoxicated at a Springville cafe -- so intoxicated in fact that they refused to serve her the alcohol she requested.

A history of harassment

In 2011, former adult performer Michelle Avanti filed for an order of protection against Shelley Lubben in Tulare County Superior Court in Visalia, and provided evidence that Lubben had begun threatening and harassing her when she fled Lubben's sham nonprofit Pink Cross Foundation and appeared in a video exposing Lubben as a manipulative, abusive addict. Official records indicate that Lubben had Pink Cross file two false complaints with Child Welfare Services, in an attempt to make Avanti lose custody of her young daughter.

Cases in three counties

Last year, Lubben was sued for wrongful death by the family of cyclist Octavio Munguia, who was killed in a DUI hit-and-run collision with Shelley Lubben's car while her boyfriend Joe Valley was behind the wheel. The next hearing date in Tulare County Superior Court for that case is January 23.

She has also been served by her ex-husband in a harassment case in San Diego County, in which her ex and his new wife seek protection from Lubben's ongoing threats and harassment. The next court date in that case is February 5, and this author has been called to testify.

Today's hearing in Kern County was continued until June 20. The judge ordered that if Mrs. Lubben cannot provide a doctor's note, the case will be dismissed.

As one can see, Shelley Lubben has quite a busy court calendar in 2019, and it's getting fuller by the day. An additional report will be filed shortly.

Shelley Lubben Evades Restraining Order, Then Attempts To Steal Car With Accomplice Jan Villarubia

Bakersfield, Calif. -- In Kern County Superior Court, Tuesday morning, Judge Stephen D. Schuett declined to make permanent a Temporary Restraining Order requested by ex-husband Garrett Lubben and their daughters to protect them from Shelley Lubben.

The judge wanted compelling evidence of the clear physical threats to the petitioners and cared very little for any activity that occurred before June 9 of this year. That's the date of the couple's mandatory mediation and settlement conference. The two appeared amicable, in that they waived their mutual declarations of financial disclosure, and had been able to come up with up a binding Settlement Agreement. It would appear the court officers mistook their eagerness to be out of each other's lives (particularly Garrett's understandable enthusiasm to be rid of her) for cordial amicability.

Because many of the (ongoing) events cited by Garrett took place before June 9, the evidence presented provided insufficient basis for the judge to grant a Permanent Restraining Order. 

Incidentally, here (for the first time anywhere) is the Lubbens' Divorce Settlement Agreement:

I've highlighted the section regarding their eldest daughter's 2015 Jeep Wrangler:

According to Garrett, he"gave her everything up there [in Springville] in the divorce" for a good reason: so that the and his girls could "start over with minimal memories remaining and zero spousal support."

Notice the document contains the clause:

Each party agrees to execute or deliver any instrument, furnish any information, or perform any other act reasonably necessary to carry out the provisions of this agreement without undue delay or expense.

This is important because 1) Shelley has taken no apparent steps to turn the Jeep over to Garrett and/or her own daughter via the California DMV and the loan company. (Their daughter drives it exclusively, and Garrett makes all the payments); and 2) approximately one hour after court let out, Shelley came to Garrett and the kids' house to confiscate Teresa’s Jeep from their driveway!

When asked for comment one day prior to the hearing, Mr. Lubben had replied:

My guess is Shelley will show up with a domestic violence advocate from Tulare County and make a plea to confiscate her daughter’s jeep that happens to be in her name.

He sure called it.  Knowing that Garrett had put down $20k + on the Jeep, Shelley Lubben was willing to fuck over her own daughter to sell it back and pocket the cash from its equity. 

So, Shelley called for a police escort to remove the Jeep which is in her name -- but neglected to inform them that, per the divorce settlement, the Jeep is Garrett's property. That's our Shelley.

Garrett writes:

She had Jan Villarubia with her today who was eager to drive off with a $50,000 Jeep. [I'll bet... see here and here -- ed.] My girls were extremely scared and when I came home after being called, Shelley was standing on the sidewalk 2 doors down with 2 police cars and officers who read the divorce settlement and sent Shelley away. All new lows for her which we experienced at the Lubben Haus today.

LOL it always comes down to money for our Shelley, doesn't it?  Always has and always will.

New routes

The hearing today concluded with the judge insisting that if Garrett wanted to protect his minor child, then he would be well advised to use the child custody path, which does make a lot of sense in the long run, particularly in light of the blockbuster charges against Shelley that Garrett has already disclosed in writing under penalty of perjury.

This mess ain't over by a long shot.

UPDATE: I am informed that the day after Shelley failed to steal her daughter's Jeep, she called her daughter a "fucking bitch" at CarMax. Nice, huh?

Lubbens To Face Off June 9, at Divorce Conference in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, Calif - In the wake of suspicious domestic violence charges and a genuine sex scandal surrounding self-proclaimed "prophet" and former Pink Cross Foundation head Shelley Lubben, the beleaguered Garrett Lubben filed for divorce in March of this year.

Last week, Kern County Superior Court in Bakersfield set the first date in the Lubbens' divorce proceeding: a Mandatory Settlement Conference on June 9 at 1:30 p.m.

The Lubbens are next scheduled to meet face to face on July 19 at 10 a.m., when Garrett has court dates in his criminal cases in Tulare County Superior Court: a Jury Trial setting in his September DV case, and a Jury Trial Confirmation in his October resisting arrest case.

i snapped these pics off of shelleys laptop when she was outside. all i know is that they seemed to be in love and his name is Joe[. He's] locked up in porterville or tulare and he's originally from bakersfield. also she uploaded some videos of him on her facebook. in your story i would like to let shelley know i have been working for her for years. and she needs mental help oh and her husband is a good lover :)

Along with the message came the following two photos:

Research indicates that "Joe" is Joseph Valley, aged 27, and that he was arrested by Tulare County Sheriffs early on Christmas morning, 2015, at the "Lubben Ranch".  

His bail was set at $50,000, which he has been unable to pay.

Shelley's husband, Garrett Lubben, was working on the road doing sales for his new company, with a home base in Bakersfield to watch the couple's two daughters -- so the youngest won't have to change schools -- while Shelley was in Springville getting real cozy with Joe the ranch hand in the love nest where Shelley had Garrett arrested TWICE in 2015 under dubious circumstances.

Sources says that the May-December romance began in the summer of 2015, not long after the Lubbens purchased the property and hired some workers, including Joe, to get it into shape.

And why is Joe in jail? 

Wouldn't you know it, Shelley called in yet another DV case to the Tulare County Sheriffs.

Joe Valley does indeed hail from Bakersfield, where he had a few minor criminal cases, including:

Many of the charges against Valley suggest that he has been homeless and panhandling from time to time. The arrest log for the 2011 battery case lists his profession as "dishwasher".

Since the Springville "Lubben Ranch" is deeded in both Shelley and Garrett's names, it will be interesting indeed to see how this all shakes out at Garrett's upcoming trial in Porterville in April.

Now what could have set off this chain of events?

Perhaps the answer lies here:

On Oct. 13, 2015, five days after being arrested a second time at Shelley's "Ranch", Garrett filed for a legal separation in Bakersfield.

Today, March 14, Garrett amended his petition to Dissolution of Marriage (divorce).

Joe Valley is scheduled for release on March 22.
